Two-shot injection molding (also known as two-color injection molding or multi-material injection molding) is an advanced injection molding technology. It involves injecting two different materials in one or multiple steps within the same mold, enabling the product to form an integrated structure with the characteristics of both materials. This technology is widely used in electronics, automotive, medical, daily necessities and other fields, which can significantly improve the functionality, aesthetics and assembly efficiency of products.
Core Principle of Two-shot Injection Molding
Using **two cavities in the same mold** (or a rotatable/movable cavity structure), two different materials (such as plastics of different colors, hardness, or materials) are injected in stages, so that the two materials are physically combined in the mold (such as nesting, coating, or splicing), and finally form an indivisible integral product.
Key feature: No subsequent assembly is required. The two materials are directly combined during the molding process, with high bonding strength and high precision.
